i'm not that interesting of guy; at least that's what i think. why have this website? partly because you never know who in your past is wondering what you are doing. partly because i might be interesting in the future :)

i have a beautiful wife, whom we share our love & attention with two amazing childre. i also have to black labs--cash and nixon. i enjoy spending my time with my family, being outdoors, traveling, reading and going to school (will i ever graduate?). i grew up in transit. born in joberg, imigrated to the US as a child, but we kept moving b/c of various employment and lack of a green card. i would never trade my childhood for anything; it's who i am. my childhood travelogue includes SLC, Toronto, Minneapolis, Winchester, Redmond & Mesa. for now i make utah home, but who knows what the future holds.

due to a lack of focus i have three passions: technology, law & politics. most anything you'll ever see on my blogs are about these topics. but one thing i've realized in the last two years is that i need to do more of the things i love. life is too short to be doing things you marginally care about. a career in politics is most definately out, but law-school is an option on the edge. technology seems to be the most obvious futue, but more and more i think about it i need to specialize and be more serious about hands on application. if i can choose (you can always choose) i would spend my time and resources in/around distributed computing. we'll see what happens.
